Graduate Student Resources
Graduate students at the Saint Louis University School of Science and Engineering should read and be familiar with the policies and resources outlined in their program's graduate handbook.
Below you’ll find forms specific to the SLU School of Science and Engineering.
- Annual Student Review Form - The University requires every graduate student conduct an annual review with their advisor to review progress and set goals. Consult with your graduate program to determine the form and process used for your program.
- Request for Approval of External Committee Member - Use this form for approval of a committee member who is external to SLU graduate faculty.
- M.S. Program of Study for Engineering and Aviation Students (editable or write-in) - All M.S. students should complete a Program of Study form during their first semester, mapping out their degree plan until graduation. When major changes occur during the program, students should revise their Program of Study. In their final semester, students will complete a final Program of Study.
- Engineering and Aviation Ph.D. Qualifying Exam Forms and Instructions - The qualifying exam is designed to determine if a student is prepared to continue Ph.D. studies and carry on with research. The department determines the details of the exam and administers the exam. For engineering students, the qualifying exam is scheduled after two semesters. For aviation students, the qualifying exam is scheduled after all coursework is completed, but before any dissertation research is started. After the exam is administered and the examining committee has made a decision, they will complete the applicable results forms contained herein.
- Ph.D. Program of Study for Engineering and Aviation Students (editable or write-in) - All Ph.D. students should complete a Program of Study form during their first semester, mapping out their degree plan until graduation. When major changes occur during the program, students should revise their Program of Study. In their final semester, students will complete a final Program of Study.

Graduate Academic Advisors
Graduate students in the School of Science and Engineering are supported through the Graduate Affairs team in the dean's office.
Students pursuing non-thesis master's programs will be assigned a graduate academic advisor at the start of their program. Students conducting master's and dissertation research will be guided by a faculty member in their department. To identify and schedule an appointment with your graduate advisor, please review your Success Team in EAB Navigate.
