Military and Veteran Rate

Honorably discharged veterans, active-duty military members, reserve members and first responders qualify for a reduced tuition rate of $295 per credit hour for any undergraduate program through the School for Professional Studies.

SLU articulates prior learning and accepts transfer credits through the American Council of Education (ACE), the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the Department of Defense DSST credit-by-examination to give you credit for military training and service, shortening your overall time to degree completion.

First Responders Rate

Qualifying first responders can take advantage of a reduced tuition rate of $295 per credit hour.

The rate is offered to new and current undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor's degree or certificate from the School for Professional Studies who are active first responders serving the public good.

The term "first responder" refers to individuals who in the early stages of an incident are responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and the environment. This includes members of law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel. First responders can serve on a volunteer, part-time or full-time basis to be considered for reduced tuition.

Action Steps to Receive Rate

To receive the discounted tuition rate, you must verify your active status as a military member or veteran by submitting a military ID or DD 214 to your academic coach. First responders can receive their discount by providing a current ID, credential designating their position, or a letter of confirmation from an employer or qualified agency. Please send documentation to your academic coach for processing.

When status is granted, it will apply for the remainder of the academic year. Supporting documentation for verification must be provided by the end of the first week of your first term in the School for Professional Studies. Tuition reductions will not apply to terms before the documentation was received.
