Applying for Financial Aid
The following important steps are necessary as you apply for financial aid to attend the Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
1. Complete a FAFSA Form
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the main application to apply for federal loans each year. The FAFSA can be completed online at studentaid.gov after Oct. 1 of the upcoming academic year.
Saint Louis University's federal school code is 002506. Before completing your FAFSA, you should set up your U.S. Department of Education FSA ID.
2. Review Award Notification
Upon receipt of your FAFSA, we will determine your eligibility for financial assistance. You will be notified by email (typically mid March) of award notification availability. Award notifications will be sent to your Saint Louis University (SLU) email account. You can accept or decline the award offers through mySLU, Saint Louis University's portal for financial aid, billing and registration information.
3. Complete a MPN and Entrance Loan Counseling
If you accept any amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized or Graduate Plus loans, you must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for each loan program you accept. In addition to the MPN, you will also need to complete Entrance Loan Counseling for graduate and professional students. To complete the MPNs and Entrance Loan Counseling for both the Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Grad Plus Loans visit studentloans.gov.
We encourage you to check the mySLU portal for the most up-to-date information regarding your financial aid information.
