Research Interests

Dr. Longhurst leads the Neuroimaging and Behavior Lab which studies the interaction of gait and postural control and cognition and particularly their effect in the context of neurodegenerative disease, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease. This has led to several key focus areas of study including fear falling and activity restriction, community engagement and participation,  and early identification of disease and syndromes. The Neuroimaging and Behavior Lab utilizes a variety of techniques ranging from measurement of cortical activation during movement to biomechanical measurement approaches.
