Accessing Your Military Education Benefits
The Office of the University Registrar acts as a liaison between SLU veterans and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. While you will apply for benefits through the VA, the registrar’s office can help you with paperwork, procedures and certification of enrollment.
All veterans and their dependents must provide their own Certificate of Eligibility and complete a Veterans Benefits Registration Form for each term they wish to receive benefits. Contact Leonard Dollenga at 314-977-2267 or leonard.dollenga@slu.edu to receive a Veterans Benefits Registration Form.
Eligibility and payment questions should be directed to the Department of Veterans
Affairs regional office at:
VA Regional Office
P.O. Box 66830
St. Louis, MO 63166-6830
1-888-442-4551
www.gibill.va.gov
A copy of the application will be accepted until the Certificate of Eligibility is received.
The School for Professional Studies offers some scholarship opportunities to qualified undergraduate students, as well as merit-based scholarships. The Office of Student Financial Services offers a range of financial aid programs including: need-based grants, loan programs, work opportunities and merit-based scholarships for eligible students at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
The Yellow Ribbon Program provides additional financial aid, beyond the costs covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, to eligible veterans attending a participating institution of higher education. At SLU, this could be up to 50 percent of remaining tuition costs for up to 85 veterans. Awards are made to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
*GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at benefits.va.gov/gibill.
