Bicentennial Fellows Projects Announced

The Bicentennial Steering Committee has announced that five projects involving seven faculty members have been selected as part of the Bicentennial Fellows initiative, which aims to highlight the faculty’s research and scholarship.

In October 2016, all full time faculty members were invited to submit proposals to contribute to the commemoration of Saint Louis University’s 200 years as an institution of higher learning through significant scholarly works. Thirty-one proposals representing the diversity of programs and scholarly activities across the University, including the Madrid Campus, were submitted. Selection was based on the proposed project’s alignment with the objectives of the bicentennial, its theme, University mission, intellectual rigor and potential for contribution to the faculty member’s discipline.

“I am pleased that so many faculty took the time to submit very impressive proposals,” said Ellen Harshman, dean emerita and director of bicentennial planning. “And I want to congratulate our seven fellows. I look forward to seeing the results of their scholarship, which I’m sure will contribute to their disciplines far beyond SLU’s bicentennial.”
