Saint Louis University has been selected as a top workplace in St. Louis for women by the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis. This is the second year in a row that SLU has been recognized as an honoree.

In announcing the release of its annual “Women in the Workplace: Employment Scorecard,” the Women’s Foundation recognized 21 St. Louis employers for excellence in four areas of workplace gender equity. The group assessed businesses of all sizes for leadership, compensation, flexible work policies, and recruitment and retention.

“We are honored and proud to be recognized once again as a top place for women to work in the St. Louis area,” said Michael Luna, vice president of human resources at SLU. “This honor validates our commitment and efforts to make SLU a caring and equitable workplace for all. While there is still more work to do, we are pleased to receive this award which confirms that we are moving in the right direction.”

The Women’s Foundation of St. Louis’ scorecard recognized companies that show their strong commitment to women in the workplace through measurable outcomes, family-friendly work policies, and best practices.

Unlike most “Best Places to Work” reports that rely on employee opinion surveys, the scorecard looked at objective criteria and outcomes. Designated organizational representatives answered specific questions about existing policies, practices, and employee data. A seven-person panel at the Women's Foundation evaluated that data which included company employment practices and their impact on gender diversity.
