American Studies Student Resources
American studies students at Saint Louis University benefit from the facilities of an urban research university. They have access to excellent library and computer facilities, the extensive audio and visual equipment of the Instructional Media Center, and training and certification by the Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence.
Graduate students also benefit from the rich archival and institutional resources of a large city. The department maintains relationships with sites such as the Missouri Historical Society, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the Circuit Court Records Project, the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Sheldon Galleries, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Missouri Botanical Gardens, and the Historic Landmarks Association.

Office of Research Services
The Office of Research Services at SLU assists scholars seeking news on funding, grant workshops and scholarly works.
Institutional Review Board
The IRB evaluates research projects for the purpose of legal rights and protections of human subjects. While oral histories and interviews are technically exempt categories, students wishing to employ such methods must still file a protocol with the IRB.
Instructional Media Center
The Instructional Media Center oversees all aspects of technology for teaching and circulates equipment such as TVs, projectors and audio components. Students and faculty can also use high resolution digital scanners and printers, slide production gear, video and audio editing equipment and conference call facilities.
Pius XII Memorial Library
SLU's Pius XII Memorial Library is the main library on campus, located at 3650 Lindell Boulevard. The library not only has a sizeable collection of books and journals, but a wide range of information services and databases.
Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning
SLU’s Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning provides a range of services and training for the improvement of classroom instruction, course development and technology integration. Its staff provide teaching portfolio retreats, skills workshops and a certificate in university teaching. The Technology and Learning Laboratory includes state-of-the-art equipment for classroom instruction, and schedules regular training sessions for faculty and graduate instructors.
