Honoring the SLU Veteran Community

Dear members of the SLU community,

On this Veterans Day, we honor those who contribute selflessly and courageously to our nation through service in the United States military. 

On Monday, I had the opportunity to meet several members of SLU’s student-veteran and military-affiliated community at the Billikens men’s basketball game. These talented students are of every age and background. They are prior service, active duty, reservists, and family members of military personnel. They each bring to SLU distinctive expertise and a deep commitment to serving with and for others. 

They join many SLU faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees who have served in every branch of the U.S. military.

To each of you who have served, in all of these capacities, I want to say: We are grateful for your service and sacrifice. We have profound respect for your commitment to a greater purpose. We value your voice and all that you bring to the SLU community. 

Thank you for the many ways that you contribute to our University’s mission.

May God continue to bless and watch over each of you.
